Formatting & Design

Formatting is the process of designing how the text will look in the published book.

This includes

  • Choosing fonts and heading styles

  • Creating the layout for text, images, folios, running heads and feet

  • Ensuring the layout does not distract from the text by controlling orphans, widows, ladders, rivers and other potential distractions

  • Designing the half title and title pages, copyright page, contents and back matter as needed.

All formatting includes a minimum of two rounds of revisions to a maximum of four. Additional revisions can be added for an additional cost. All formatting is done in InDesign with all proofs submitted as PDFs.

*Formatting does not include proofreading.

Amanda has been a pleasure to work with. She made beautiful design choices with typefaces and layouts for both my books, her responses were timely, and she implemented necessary changes to improve the overall quality and formatting of my work. My suggestions, comments and questions were taken into consideration. She is professional and hardworking, and I hope to work with her again in the future!
